O'NEILL AND ASSOCIATES RECEIVES BOSTON BUSINESS JOURNAL'S
2009 EDUCATION PARTNER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Boston (September 12, 2009) – O’Neill and Associates, New England’s leading full-service government affairs and public relations consulting firm, is pleased to announce that chief executive officer Thomas P. O’Neill III has been named Education Partner of the Year by the Boston Business Journal  for his instrumental role in establishing North Cambridge Catholic High School’s innovative Cristo Rey Corporate Work Study Program. This honor, shared with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, was awarded at the paper’s annual Corporate Citizenship Summit on September 11, 2009.

 “As an alumnus, I am thrilled at the progress North Cambridge Catholicthat has made,” said Mr. O’Neill. “The impact from 2005 to 2008 is remarkable. Every one of our kids goes to college – every one of them. And that’s the main goal of this program.”

In 2004, Mr.O’Neill helped North Cambridge Catholic launch the Corporate Work Study Program, which enables economically disadvantaged students the opportunity to attend a private, college prep high school and gain one-of-a-kind work experience that will propel them into four-year colleges and greater professional opportunities beyond. North Cambridge Catholic is one of 22 schools selected nationwide by the Cassin Educational Initiative Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to offer this unique program. Today, over 70 companies from across Greater Boston, including O’Neill and Associates, have contracted with the school for full-time, entry-level jobs. Since the start of this initiative, NCC’s college acceptance rate has increased from 27% to 91%.

The Boston Business Journal’s annual Corporate Citizenship Summit honors the area’s top charitable contributors and provides tools and information on how to begin or sustain a charitable mission.
