O’Neill and Associates Announces Hire of Scott M. Brenner
Public affairs firm continues growth in Washington, D.C.

Boston (September 19, 2006) – O’Neill and Associates, New England’s leading government relations and communications firm, announced today that Scott M. Brenner has joined its Washington, D.C. office to head up its homeland security practice.

“Scott has extensive background on Capitol Hill and in this Administration with homeland security and transportation issues,” said CEO Thomas P. O’Neill, III. “He will provide O’Neill and Associates’ clients with unparalleled expertise in these crucial areas.” Mr. Brenner brings to the firm more than fifteen years of public and private sector experience in lobbying, political media relations, and public affairs.

Prior to joining O’Neill and Associates, Mr. Brenner served as chief of external affairs for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate, where he was responsible for all communications with the Hill, the media and stakeholders. Mr. Brenner also brings with him many years of experience with the U.S. Department of Transportation –both in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as the chief congressional liaison and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) where he served as chief spokesperson during the tragic events of 9/11. In addition, Mr. Brenner served as deputy director of communications for the House Committee on Ways and Means and a former Capitol Hill press secretary.

Mr. Brenner has also worked internationally with Freedom Medicine, a non-profit organization that provided medical training to refugees in Afghanistan. As the in-country Camp Manager, Mr. Brenner was responsible for the daily operation of a number of field clinics as well as Freedom Medicine’s public relations activities. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada at Reno and his master’s from Strayer University in Washington, D.C. He currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia.
