O’NEILL AND ASSOCIATES CONGRATULATES VICE PRESIDENT ANN S. MURPHY,
NEWLY-ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE MASSACHUSETTS WOMEN'S POLITICAL CAUCUS

Boston (January 26, 2007) – O’Neill and Associates, Boston’s leading government and public relations firm, proudly congratulates vice president Ann S. Murphy on being elected president of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus, a multi-partisan organization that strives to increase the number of women elected and appointed to public office and public policy positions and to increase the participation of women in the political process.

“A savvy veteran of Massachusetts politics and a dedicated mentor to women, Ann Murphy brings both expertise and passion to this new post,” said O’Neill and Associates Chief Executive Officer Thomas P. O’Neill III. “If she is half as effective in this position as she is on behalf her public relations clients at O’Neill and Associates, the Caucus will benefit tremendously.”

As a vice president in the communications practice at O’Neill and Associates, Murphy shares expertise gleaned from more than 25 years in print and broadcast news as well as government, political and corporate public relations to help corporate and non-profit clients achieve their objectives. Her work with such companies as Sovereign Bank, W.B. Mason, Hanify & King, and Abbott Personnel led Women’s Business Boston to list Murphy among their “Top 10 PR Specialists” in September 2006.

Before joining O’Neill and Associates, Murphy served as the director of media relations at Cablevision in Boston, Massachusetts. Murphy also served as director of communications for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue where she was instrumental in developing the public information/education campaign on the agency’s innovative tax filing technology. She also served as press secretary to Governor Mitt Romney in his 1994 bid for U.S. Senate and was deputy press secretary for Gov. William Weld and Lt. Gov. Paul Cellucci.

Murphy’s other work on behalf of women includes the active role she plays on the advisory board of Girls Radio 540 AM, a Boston-based station originated and operated by teenage girls to give them a voice in their community. A graduate of UMass-Amherst with a bachelor of arts degree in English and Journalistic Studies, cum laude, Murphy is a resident of Waltham, Mass.
