O’Neill and Associates Announces Hire of Crisis Management and Communications Expert Hugh Drummond

Boston (March 20, 2007) – O’Neill and Associates, New England’s leading full-service government and public relations firm, today announced the hire of communications expert Hugh Drummond, who joins the firm as Vice President.

“Hugh brings a diverse and valuable portfolio of experience to our firm,” noted O’Neill and Associates CEO Thomas P. O’Neill III. “Crisis management, employee communications, government relations on the local, state and federal levels, political campaigns, even high-tech PR – Hugh’s done it all.” Prior to joining O’Neill and Associates, Mr. Drummond was director of communications, marketing and state relations for the Massachusetts Bay Chapter of the American Red Cross. In addition to managing the overall public communications effort for one of the largest Red Cross chapters in the nation, he served on numerous disaster relief and emergency support operations including the 2004 Democratic National Convention, Hurricane Katrina, and the November 2006 Danvers chemical plant explosion putting him into regular contact with local, state and federal officials. In 2006, the Red Cross named him to its elite “Rapid Response Team,” designating him as a Red Cross national media spokesperson for future disaster relief efforts.

Prior to joining the Red Cross, Mr. Drummond served on the legislative staff of former United States Senator Bill Bradley and held senior roles on Bill Bradley’s 2000 presidential campaign and the 2002 gubernatorial campaign of former Massachusetts State Senator Warren Tolman. He has also led public relations and government affairs initiatives for technology companies in Silicon Valley and Seattle, including NAVTEQ, a digital map information and software company, and Amdahl Corporation (now Fujitsu IT Holdings, Inc.).

Mr. Drummond earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from DeSales University in Allentown, PA and later served as a Senior Fellow at the Center for Collaborative Leadership (Emerging Leaders Program) at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. He resides in Winchester, Mass.
