O’Neill and Associates Announces Hire of Joseph R. Driscoll

Boston (December 15, 2010) – O’Neill and Associates, New England’s leading full-service government and public relations firm, today announced the hire of former state Rep. Joseph R. Driscoll, D-Braintree, who has joined the firm as a senior vice president in the local and state government relations practice.

O’Neill, III.  “Joe served with enormous distinction in the House, as an Assistant Attorney General and as Assistant District Attorney in Norfolk County. He has a depth of experience in government and the law that is going to be a huge asset for this firm and its clients.”

Most recently, Mr. Driscoll lost a close race for Norfolk County District Attorney and completed his fourth term in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Since 2003, he represented the Fifth Norfolk District which includes the towns of Braintree, Holbrook, and Randolph, Massachusetts. While in the legislature, Mr. Driscoll oversaw banking and insurance issues in the Commonwealth as a member of the Joint Committee on Financial Services.  He is also served on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Joint Committee on Revenue. 

Previously, Mr. Driscoll was an Assistant Attorney General assigned to the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, a division dedicated to protecting the elderly from fraud and abuse. His work included handling high-profile Superior Court cases including attempted murder, armed robbery, domestic violence and child abuse cases. Before that, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for Middlesex County and later Norfolk County and was assigned to the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit. Mr. Driscoll began his career in public service as Staff Director for the Transportation Committee in the State Legislature.

A leader in his hometown of Braintree, Massachusetts, Driscoll has served as a Town Selectman and a Town Meeting Member since 1990. He is also a member of the Braintree Democratic Town Committee.

Mr. Driscoll graduated from Boston College, obtained his law degree from New England School of Law, and earned a master’s degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.  He is a member of the East Braintree Civic Association, the Knights of Columbus Council #1462 and the Braintree Historical Society.
