Northeastern University
Challenge
Northeastern University sought federal funding for a new science and research building on its Boston campus.
Solution
The University retained O'Neill and Associates to develop and execute a strategic government relations plan. After producing collateral materials to support the University’s development goals, O’Neill and Associates lobbied the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Defense Appropriations to gain an earmark for the new engineering building.
Results
Funding of $15 million was approved by Congress and President Bush in 1992, but was delayed by the Department of Defense. O'Neill and Associates was instrumental in obtaining release of the funds in 1993.
