“Game Changer” for Courthouse Lofts Redevelopment Project

Trinity Co-Founder Patrick Lee Is a Keynote Speaker for Chamber’s Business Conference

 

The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce has honored Trinity Financial as a “Game Changer” for contributing to a more diverse workforce and creating opportunity for people of color through the Courthouse Lofts redevelopment project in downtown Worcester.

The recognition was presented to Trinity officials on Monday, October 19 during the first day of the Chamber’s Game Changers business conference and expo. The four-day virtual conference wrapped up Thursday, October 22 with a keynote address from Trinity Financial principal and co-founder Patrick Lee.

“The partnership we have forged with the City of Worcester, its community of residents and businesses and the Worcester Regional Chamber has really enabled us to reach the diversity goals we set forth for the Courthouse Lofts project,” said Lee, who co-founded Trinity Financial 32 years ago with partner, co-owner and fellow Trinity principal James Keefe. Together Lee and Keefe oversee the company’s development arm as well as Trinity Management Co.

During the development and construction of Courthouse Lofts – on the site of the former Worcester County Courthouse – Trinity has maximized the use of local subcontractors on the project, and worked with a cross-section of minority- and women-owned businesses. Additionally, a featured community amenity of Courthouse Lofts will be a public exhibit and museum dedicated to  cyclist Marshall “Major” Taylor, one of the earliest African-American champions of any sport, who spent much of his life in Worcester.

In remarks to the Worcester Regional Chamber in May 2019, Lee said that in pursuing the company’s first project in Worcester, Trinity found “a community that put their arms around us and supported us as we tried to pull the pieces together here.”

Courthouse Lofts is the historic rehabilitation and adaptive re-use of the former Worcester County Courthouse, originally built in 1845, into a new multifamily mixed income residence, with ancillary amenity space throughout.

The project will feature 118 residences in the form of Studio, 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units. Located at 2 Main Street, the redevelopment of the Courthouse is part of a larger revitalization of the Historic Lincoln Square district, which sits just north of Downtown Worcester and the City center. The project includes a fitness center, clubhouse lounge, gallery space, and bicycle and resident storage. The site will also feature ample parking, landscaping restoration, and outdoor resident gathering spaces.
