I want to congratulate my longtime friend President-elect @joebiden and his running mate Vice President-elect @KamalaHarris on their election.

Throughout his campaign and career the President-elect has pledged to work with those across the aisle and govern honorably for all Americans. He ran as a uniter, with a steadiness of character and an unbounding sense of empathy and compassion. As a fellow Irish-American, I couldn’t be more proud. This is his time.

It is also incredibly important to acknowledge the historic importance of Vice President-elect Harris as the first woman and first woman of color to hold the office. She’s a principled and dedicated public servant who will serve us well.
