FAN EXPO Boston Offers the Ultimate Fan Experience

(Boston, MA) – June 26, 2019 – FAN EXPO Boston is gearing up for this year’s show with an array of attractions to offer visitors a unique fan experience. Fans will immerse themselves in pop culture and comics during the three-day show from August 16 to 18 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The special fan experiences include the Fan Guru Masters of Cosplay Grand Prix, themed Escape Rooms, complete Star Wars and Blade Runner experiences, Doctor Who Daleks and TARDIS, a Family Zone with a host of activities and Kids Cosplay Contest, cosplay red carpet, meet and greets, photo ops, Beetlejuice photo op environment, Geek Speed Dating, autograph signings and much more.
“We are working to make FAN EXPO Boston an unforgettable experience by bringing in new attractions,” said Andrew Moyes, FAN EXPO Boston Vice President. “This year’s show will give fans even more opportunity to participate in a variety of free interactive activities including panels and Q and A events with A-list celebrities, as well as Back to the Future, Star Wars and Blade Runner fan experiences.”
For the first time ever in New England, Blade Runner celebrity guests Rutger Hauer, Sean Young and Edward James Olmos will take to the stage in front of a live audience on Saturday, August 17 to share behind the scene stories from one of the greatest films of all time. In addition to this, there will be a Blade Runner Cosplay Day, Cosplay Meet Up, costume contest, Blade Runner Origami where fans can learn how to make Origami animals like Gaff and more.

Comic fans and collectors and certainly in for a treat with over 90 amazing creators at the show including Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, Greg Capullo, Gail Simone and in his first Boston appearance comic legend Marc Silvestri. You can meet your favorite creator, attend one of the many free comic panels, Q&A’s or sketch duels, get a commission done or simply look for that ultra-special addition to your collection from the many comic retailers at the show.
DC Comics will be at the show with exclusive comics and merchandise, and an interactive photo green screen experience. If you fancy yourself as the next big creator, why not apply to have your portfolio reviewed by them in one of the many review slots they will have available.
The Family Zone will feature a host of fun activities including play stations, arts and crafts tables, interactive learning experiences from Boston’s Museum of Science and Mad Science, costumed character visits, Disney princesses, kids costume contest and more. The fun doesn’t stop there though as an Ocean Lab virtual submarine experience on the show floor will let the fans explore the depths like Aquaman.
This year, fans will have the opportunity to visit one of three different Escape Room scenarios inspired by the magical worlds of Stranger Things, Harry Potter and Zombies.
FAN EXPO Boston will host the Eastern Qualifier for FAN EXPO’s Fan Guru Master of Cosplay Grand Prix that will take place in Toronto on August 24, 2019 during FAN EXPO Canada. The winner at FAN EXPO Boston will compete with winners from other qualifying rounds for the ultimate prize of $7,500 and the championship title. Last year’s Eastern Qualifier winner was Luisa Earle of Milton, MA who ultimately won the Masters of Cosplay 2018 Championship and is returning to the show as a professional cosplayer guest. New this year, fans have the opportunity to strut their stuff on the cosplay red carpet to show off their costumes to other fans. Fans can feel like a celebrity and get their photo taken by professional and amateur photographers. There is also a host of fan favorite cosplayers in attendance including VAMP, Evilyn 13 and the impressive Extreme Costumes who will be bringing their towering Hulkbuster and Bumblebee creations for all to see.
The Boston pop culture community will be out in force with the 501st Stormtroopers, Rebel Legion, Agents of Shield vehicles and props, Doctor Who, Ghostbusters and steampunk groups will be there to wow the fans with awesome cosplay creations and costumes.
