MVPvets today announced it will participate in the 2019 Student Veterans of America (SVA) Summit at Raytheon in Tewksbury on August 2nd and 3rd.
During the event, MVPvets will have the opportunity to connect with leaders of colleges and universities throughout New England to discuss how student veterans can participate in and benefit from the program.
Founded in 2014, MVPvets is a national veteran mentoring nonprofit that specializes in providing returning military veterans with the resources, skills and the confidence they need to achieve careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, while also ensuring employers have access to this talented group of employees.
MVPvets is also serving as an event sponsor, supporting the work of SVA. SVA is a coalition of student-veteran groups on college campuses across the globe, and its mission is to provide military veterans with the resources, support and advocacy needed to achieve their educational goals.
“We’re thrilled to participate in this event and to have the opportunity to support the tremendous work SVA is doing on behalf of student veterans in Massachusetts and around the nation,” said Jayson Gilberti, Colonel, U.S., Army, Retired, who is CEO of MVPvets. “So many talented student veterans who defended our country are now seeking fulfilling new careers with as much meaning and purpose. MVPvets is committed to working with our partners to help veterans acquire the resources and support they need to successfully make this transition.”
The year 2019 also marks the 75th anniversary of the GI bill, which is utilized by about 750,000 veterans across the country. The GI bill provides a wide range of benefits to veterans, including low-cost home loans, education and vocational trainijng and an expansion of healthcare.
