National Braille Press teams up with Voya Financial’s National Days of Service

(Boston, MA) – May 12, 2022 – National Braille Press (NBP) teamed up with Voya Financial in Windsor, Conn. on May 11, as part of Voya’s annual National Days of Services events. Voya employees volunteered by assembling books for blind children and those with and low-vision. They assembled hundreds of children’s books “Oh the Places You Will Go” and “Are You My Mother?”
This event was part of Voya’s annual National Days of Service, a companywide effort during which its employees give back to their local communities.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with the National Braille Press for one of our annual National Days of Service events,” said Theresa Tolkinen, IT manager and vice chair of Voya’s Volunteer Council. “For Voya employees, the unified contribution of time and energy for events like this have a significant impact on the communities where we live and work and we are happy to be supporting such a great organization with the NBP.”
Voya’s commitment to employee volunteerism goes beyond these events. Full-time employees are provided 40 hours of paid volunteer time each year. This year’s event with the National Braille Press comes after another volunteer project in April for National Braille Press when approximately 100 Voya team members performed a service project at a sales conference in Sea Island, GA where they assembled a braille children’s book and refrigerator magnets with quotes in braille.
“We are truly grateful for the work done by Voya Financial volunteers for its annual National Days of Service and its other service projects to help assemble our braille materials,” said Brian Mac Donald, President, National Braille Press. “Voya is an example of a company that values service and supports its employees to give back. We welcome other companies to work with us for their volunteer projects as well.”
For blind people, braille is an essential tool that aids in the process of becoming literate. National Braille Press is honored to work with corporate organizations to provide information on braille literacy and work with volunteers to help blind and low-vision individuals.
