NECANN Boston 2020 rescheduled to June 27-29 Illinois convention also postponed; new dates pending
Action was necessary as part of public-health response to COVID-19
The New England Cannabis Convention announced today it has rescheduled its NECANN Boston 2020 show to June 27, 28 and 29 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. The annual meeting of the New England Cannabis industry – originally scheduled for March 20-22 – was postponed this week as concerns escalated over the global COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on public health and safety.
NECANN will honor all vendor registrations, pre-sale tickets, and sponsor commitments on the convention’s new date. The New England Cannabis Community Awards, The Diversity Supplier Expo/Job Fair, and the first-annual NECANN Competition awards will remain as featured programs during the rescheduled three-day cannabis trade show.
“We are facing a world health crisis, and every community in New England and beyond needs to work together and make the right decisions to control this outbreak,” said Marc Shepard, Co-Founder and President of NECANN. “We are working closely with the Hynes Convention Center to plan for these new dates in June. And of course, as the situation with Covid-19 evolves, we will assess with the Hynes and the City of Boston the status of public health and safety measures as we approach June 27. Nonetheless we are grateful to have new dates in place for the premier cannabis industry trade show in the Northeast.”
The Illinois NECANN convention originally planned for April 3-4 has also been postponed. The NECANN team is working with local organizers, the City of Chicago and our venue, the Chicago Hilton, to identify new dates for that show.
NECANN’s goal is to maintain as much of each show’s original programming as possible. Any changes to speakers and programming will be announced as soon as possible.
“All exhibitor registrations and pre-sale tickets have been transferred to the new dates for Boston, and the same will be done for Illinois,” Shepard said. “We appreciate everyone’s understanding, patience and support. We are all in this together, and hope that the steps being taken have a positive impact on controlling this outbreak and protecting the health and safety of our communities.”
About NECANN
Since 2014 NECANN has been creating resource hubs for the rapidly expanding Cannabis industry. Events where businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, educators, patients, advocates, and consumers can connect, learn, and grow. We feel that individually created conventions focused on each local market’s needs and opportunities are a superior alternative to the generic national canna-convention franchises found everywhere. NECANN takes a collaborative approach to each of our conventions that has resulted in consistently high ROI for exhibitors, sponsors, attendees, and the local cannabis market as a whole. Registration for NECANN events is available online at www.necann.com. A limited amount of tickets will also be sold on-site on the days of the shows.
