Prime Motor Group Acquires Gallery Automotive Group

New dealerships in Norwood, Reading, and Rockland expand Prime Motor Group’s portfolio in the Massachusetts auto market, adds 500 employees

Westwood, MA (February 14, 2019) – Prime Motor Group announced today that it has acquired Norwood’s Gallery Automotive Group and its six dealership locations – including BMW Gallery of Norwood, South Shore BMW and South Shore MINI in Rockland, Volkswagen Gallery in Norwood, Honda Gallery in Reading, and Mazda Gallery in Norwood.

Prime Motor Group is one of the largest and most successful family-operated auto businesses in New England – 29 dealerships across the region before the acquisition.

“We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve acquired the Gallery Automotive Group and are extremely excited to add BMW to our extensive line-up of luxury vehicles,” said David Rosenberg, President and CEO of Prime Motor Group.

Both BMW dealerships, South Shore MINI, and Mazda Gallery of Norwood are located in close proximity to two existing Prime campuses – along Route 1 in Norwood and Hingham Street in Rockland.

“These strategic locations will provide our customers with even more options and even greater inventory selections while allowing Prime to take advantage of efficiencies and scale,” Rosenberg added.

Gordon Chu, Gallery Automotive Group President and CEO, will continue to run these stores for Prime, along with several other Prime South Shore locations, as the region’s Market Chief Operating Officer. Gordon’s customer-centric focus will ensure that customers of Gallery and Prime continue to receive the same level of high-quality service and care they have come to expect from both dealership groups.

“David Rosenberg and the entire Prime Motor Group team have built an organization committed to customer satisfaction and focused on business growth,” said Chu, who initially met Rosenberg when he arrived in Boston three years ago. “I’m excited to be part of the Prime Motor Group family, and confident that all Gallery Group stakeholders will benefit significantly!”

Prime Motor Group acquired Gallery Automotive Group from Marubeni America Corporation, a Japan-based company. Gallery’s 500 employees will be joining Prime Motor Group’s employee base of more than 3,500 team members across New England.

“The addition of the Gallery Group dealerships to our portfolio enables us to meet the needs of even more customers, who will find our same Fast, Fair and Simple customer service pledge in these locations,” said Rosenberg.
