Regatta Partner Harvard Pilgrim Health Care to Create Interactive Family-Friendly Space at the Head Of The Charles Regatta
The 55th Regatta Will Take Place October 19-20 on the banks of the Charles River
Premier Sponsor Harvard Pilgrim Health Care the Official Health Care Services Provider of the Head Of The Charles Regatta, will be launching a family zone at the Weld Exhibition venue during the 55th Regatta, which takes place On October 19th and 20th.
This is Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s second year as a Premier Sponsor of the Regatta. The family zone, titled “HaPi Zone,” will be a new interactive space for families with young children to experience the Regatta. The HaPi Zone will include face painting and temporary tattoos, a clown performing magic tricks, and a dance floor complete with a DJ. There will also be a digital photo booth with social media posting capabilities.
“The Regatta has always been family-friendly, but now with the HaPi Zone, there is a destination for families and parents with young kids to play within one of the most popular venues of the Regatta” said Head of the Charles Executive Director Fred Schoch. “With the attractions Harvard Pilgrim is bringing to the Regatta, we’re confident that the space will be exciting for young kids and “grown-ups” alike. We welcome the energy that this new attraction will bring to our event.”
The HaPi Zone will be located at the Weld Exhibition area, just a few minutes walk from the Harvard Red Line T stop. Along with the HaPi Zone, the Weld area has food vendors, such as Ruths’ Chris Steak House, Peet’s Coffee, Back Bay Roasters, Teddie Peanut Butter and more. The Head Of The Charles Regatta is one of the world’s most renowned rowing competitions, hosting a variety of events for local and international rowers. Since its origin in 1965, the Head Of The Charles® Regatta has welcomed the world’s best crew teams to the banks of the Charles River for the ultimate two-day rowing competition. Preparing for an event that attracts over 11,000 athletes and thousands of spectators requires a great deal of preparation. The HOCR consists of a 15 member Board of Directors, six of which are in charge of race management and overseeing an eleven-member race committee (including two race co-chairs). The race committee meets year-round to discuss the operational and logistical details of the event. They are assisted by 115 leading volunteers on 30 separate committees that begin meeting weekly in the fall. A full-time, professional staff of four, headquartered in the Cambridge Boat Club, works year-round to plan the event, obtain sponsorship and communicate with the rowing community.
